Cheese? Yes!

(alternative title : the karaoke of death)

Author's note : yes, I like to defy the doomed aspects of fan-fiction. After the fluffy resurrection cliché, the cross-over of death, behold my attempt at song fic

Sometimes I dream with open eyes
I dream of falling in love

Imagine a kingdom designed to welcome warriors after their death, a Valhalla whose only Walkyrie didn't choose residents based on their bravery, but rather on more elusive criteria, from a few strong jawed heroes with a troubled soul, to misguided lost boys and dark personalities labelled as villains in their own world.

Mostly good-looking, too, for she was a shallow Walkyrie.

To be in love
Must be the sweetest feeling that a boy can feel
To be in love

That karaoke night supposed to create a sense of community was not a good idea.
Warriors usually don't do too well in artistic domains, and not all of them appreciate good music.
This was not good music, anyway. One of the cheesiest love songs ever written in the history of Earth, probably, composed for a teen girl with a corny heart, slightly tweaked by its new performer.

Though it had to be said to the credit of the current singer, that he did have more than his share of flair and sense of drama to take up the stage. And magic that he was using now to add special light effects to his number.
That is also pretty much all that could be said to his credit, according to most of the audience that night. He was certainly the most unstable psychopath of their whole assembly - that held quite some.

To live a dream
With somebody you care about like no one else
A special man

There was a man however who disagreed with this statement, the one to whom that song was dedicated with a candid fervour.
Not really "disagreed", actually. He would agree that the star of one night was an unstable psychopath. That was one of the reasons why he was so fond of him. Why he let the singer going on with the embarrassingly fluffy song, despite their audience.

A dearest man
Who wants to share his life with you alone
Who holds you close
And feels things
That only love brings
To know that he is all your own

He barely twitched as he heard these lyrics, when a few others cringed or expected him to freeze everyone in a fit of rage or denial.
Which proved the hold that the singer had on him.

He didn't fear the psychopath in him. He was less than sympathetic himself.
He was, however, wary of his temper that could easily lead to emotional crisis, and he tried to avoid such confrontations.
Except when he was tempted to tease the pretty man because he was amusing when he pouted.

To be my love
My love must be much more than any other man
To be my love

That part of the song, no matter how corny it initially could be, perfectly defined its recipient.
For his love was more than any other man. He was not human. He was a demon with vast powers, strikingly handsome features and unearthly white hair. He was also reported as being less than human in matters of the heart, a cold and impassionate creature.

He still was, except where his lover was concerned.

To share my dreams
My hero he must take me where no other can
Where we will find
A brand new world
A world of things we've never seen before
Where silver suns have golden moons

The audience members who were not trying to block out the sheer horror of the moment looked up in the sky at these words, gazing at the two tiny blue suns visible up there, two of the four that orbited around the planet.
They thought of the moon covered with red sand that would cast a short night upon them as it crossed the path of sunlight, and wondered how come the sing fitted their world so well.

The shallow Walkyrie was bobbing her head in rhythm, lip-syncing the lyrics in unison with the singer, with a fluffy smile on her lips.
They shivered at the thought that maybe this wasn't a coincidence.

Each year as thirteen June
That's what must be for me
To be in love

Zoisite finished the song, beaming a radiant smile at Kunzite who nodded, only slightly flushed.

Everyone was relieved to see them teleporting away as soon as the last tune faded. No matter how many eyebrows their relationship and mere presence among them raised, anything was better than hearing another song like this.
